Absconder eludes Sharpsburg Police after assaulting a woman

In the early morning hours Saturday June 2nd JAMES EDWARD STONER 25, assaulted a woman in Sharpsburg. Sharpsburg police saw the man fleeing the scene and a chase ensued. A Sharpsburg police officer chased STONER to Wilson and through many streets in the downtown area. STONER was not apprehended right away, he was caught a short time later. STONER has a variety of court dates in Nash, Wilson and Guilford Counties for Assault by Strangulation, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Discharging a Firearm in City Limits, Assault on a Government Official, Assault on a female several flee to elude charges and an array of drug charges.

STONER who is a probation absconder was charged with the following

FLEE TO ELUDE ARREST

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

DAMAGE TO PERSONAL PROPERTY

PROBATION VIOLATION

He is in the Wilson County Jail under a $40,000 bond
