Man charged with Obtaining Property by False Pretense and Drugs

On Sunday April 16, 2018 at approximately 7:00pm Roanoke Rapids Police Department received a call about a fraud at Walmart, Officer R. Cross responded and spotted the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.  The passenger Sakwon Artavas Bowser 22 of Roanoke Rapids was arrested and charged with obtaining property by a false pretense, conspiracy, larceny, possession of stolen property and possession of schedule VI (marijuana).

Mr. Bowser allegedly took the items from the store without paying for them earlier and then returned them for a refund.

Mr. Bowser had the marijuana in his pocket when he was arrested.

Mr. Bowser was given a $1,000 bond and a May 2, 2018 court date.
