Additional charges against ATM Skimmer suspects

On February 17, 2018 Detective Willie Murphy of Enfield Police Department charged Johan Castillo-Gomez, 29 and Hender Pena, 35, both from addresses listed in Miami Florida with felony card theft with a scanning device. The case started when the Enfield Police Department and the United States Secret Service learned that two males possibly installed a card skimmer on an ATM in Enfield on November 15, 2017.

On November 17, 2017 a victim came forward and stated that their debit card information had been stolen and over $600.00 was taken from their account. Since the date the ATM was tampered with, Det. Murphy, Lt. Chris Davis of the Weldon Police Department and the United States Secret Service has been working in conjunction to identify and arrest the suspects.

Last week The Weldon Police Department with the assistance of the North Carolina Highway Patrol identified and arrested the two suspects after the suspects placed another skimming device on an ATM in Weldon.

Castillo-Gomez and Pena were already being held on bonds out of Weldon and Raleigh. They were given an additional $75,000.00 bond for and scheduled for court on February 21, 2018.
