Roanoke Rapids Weekend Crime Report

On January 27, 2018 at approximately 12:30am Roanoke Rapids Police Department responded to a call about a disturbance in the 1800 of Daniels Street. When Officer S. Blythe arrived he found Donquel Tyjuan Gupton 32 of Roanoke Rapids holding a small child in his arms causing a disturbance.  When Officers tried to calm Mr. Gupton down he ran from the officers and then fell down and began squeezing the child.  Officers S. Blythe and A. Green were able to get the child away from Mr. Gupton at that point, Mr. Gupton was arrested and charged with child abuse and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer. Mr. Gupton was given a $1,000 bond and a February 16, 2018 court date.

On January 27, 2018 at approximately 4:45am Roanoke Rapids Police Department responded to a call about an open 911 line call in the 900 block of Grey Street, Master Officer J. Hardy responded and found Travon Torieke Robinson 19 of Roanoke Rapids  intoxicated and yelling and screaming.

 

Mr. Robinson refused all attempts to calm down by officers; he was arrested and charged with drunk & disruptive and underage consumption, he was given a $400 bond and a February 16, 2018 court date.

On January 27, 2018 at approximately 10:30am Roanoke Rapids Police Department’s Officer R. Cross conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Roanoke Avenue near Birdsong Street.  During the stop drug paraphernalia was found on the passenger Matthew Scott Liverman 21 of Macon.  Officer Cross cited Mr. Liverman for possession of drug paraphernalia; he was released until his February 29, 2018 court date.

 

On January 28, 2018 at approximately 11:30am Roanoke Rapids Police Department’s Officer R. Cross conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Highway 158 and Highway 48.  During the stop it was determined that the driver Omar Daquan Ponton 25 of Roanoke Rapids did not have a driver’s license, Mr. Ponton refused to exit the vehicle and had to be removed from it.  During a search Mr. Ponton was found in possession of narcotics.

 

Mr. Ponton was arrested and charged with no operator’s license, possession of schedule II (cocaine), maintaining a vehicle, and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer; he was given a $2,000 and a February 7, 2018.

On January 27, 2018 at approximately 11:15pm Roanoke Rapids Police Department’s Master Officer J. Hardy was on routine patrol in the area of Vine Street when he noticed a lot of vehicles on Taft Street.  When Master Officer Hardy drove down Taft Street people began to hide and try to leave the area.  During the investigation of the activity at the dead end of Taft Street Officers found narcotics and guns.

 

Alvin Norwood Jr. 26 of Roanoke Rapids was arrested and charged by Officer A. Green with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of schedule II (cocaine), possession with intent to sell/deliver schedule II (cocaine), and attempting to destroy evidence. Mr. Norwood was given a $60,000 bond and a March 3, 2018 court date.

Audwin Lamonte Parker Jr. 28 of Roanoke Rapids was arrested and charged by Master Officer J. Hardy with possession of schedule II (cocaine), possession with intent to sell/deliver schedule II (cocaine), possession of schedule VI (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Mr. Parker was given a $10,000 bond and a February 7, 2018 court date.

On January 28, 2018 at approximately 1:15pm Roanoke Rapids Police Department’s Lt. P. Parks investigating drug activity on Glover Street, when he came into contact with a vehicle with several people inside.  During the investigation narcotics and paraphernalia were found.  Lt. Parks arrested and charged the following subjects.

 

Marshawn Davon High 16 of Gaston was charged with possession of schedule I (heroin), possession on schedule II (cocaine), possession of schedule VI (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia, he was given a $3,000 bond and a March 7, 2018 court date.

 

Devon Rashod Johnston 19 of Roanoke Rapids was charged with possession of schedule VI (marijuana) and maintaining a vehicle, he was given a $4,000 bond and a March 7, 2018 court date.

 

Katoe Wardell Harris Jr. 19 of Roanoke Rapids was charged with possession of schedule I (heroin), possession on schedule II (cocaine), possession of schedule VI (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia, fictitious information to officer and was served an order for arrest; he was given a $5,000 bond and a March 7, 2018 court date.

On January 28, 2018 at approximately 2:30pm Roanoke Rapids Police Department’s Officer R. Cross responded to a call about a motor vehicle breaking/enter on East 10th Street.  The victim found a subject inside their vehicle and followed him until police arrived.  Officer Cross arrested and charged Barry Wayne Frost 51 of Roanoke Rapids for breaking/entering a motor vehicle, Mr. Frost was given a $3,000 bond and a February 7, 2018 court date.
