Man whose truck was found submerged in the Tar River this morning is missing

Silver Alert issued for missing person

Rocky Mount, N.C.-On Jan. 29, 2018 at 7:44 a.m., the Rocky Mount Police department (RMPD) responded to a suspicious event at the main boat ramp located at Battle Park Drive. When officers arrived on the scene, they located a 2003 burgundy Ford Ranger pickup truck submerged in the Tar River. The Rocky Mount Fire department’s swift water rescue team responded and aided in the removal of the vehicle from the river. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of removal.

As this investigation progressed, it has been determined that the vehicle belongs to Stephen Craig Miller. Miller is a 70-year-old white male, 5 feet, 11 inches with brown hair and brown eyes. Miller was last seen at his residence on Jan 27, 2018 and does have cognitive impairments. (Please see the attached picture of Miller).
