Teenage girl arrested for soliciting gang activity

On Tuesday January 16, 2018 at approximately 11:00am Emya Jahne Boothe 18 of Roanoke Rapids came to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department to be served additional warrants for the December 15, 2017 shooting at the AMVet’s building on East 8th Street.

Investigator G.L. Williams charged Ms. Boothe with solicit gang activity, she was giving a $10,000 bond and a February 7, 2018 court date.  Ms. Boothe was also served criminal summons for assault (2 counts) from assault that took place on January 14, 2018.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time with Investigators following up on all leads, more arrests are expected.

ORIGINAL STORY 

On Friday December 15, 2017 at approximately 11:00pm the Roanoke Rapids Police Department responded to the AMVET’s building in the 300 block of East 8th Street about a party and shots being fired.  When officers arrived they found a large crowd running away and vehicles speeding away from the building. Officer found one subject on the ground that had been shot multiple times, the subject was transported by Halifax County EMS to Halifax Regional Medical Center ER and then transferred to a Trauma Center for treatment of injuries.

At this point in the investigation the police department does not have any suspect descriptions or direction of travel.

Investigators are following up on leads and information at this time.
