A convicted killer from WILSON COUNTY will soon stand trial in another homicide case in which the body has never been found.
GREGORY KENT PARKS, 58, was found guilty of attempted rape and manslaughter decades ago. He’s now charged in the death of 20-year-old ISABEL CALVO PALACIOS, known to her family and friends as Chaveli. The BAILEY woman disappeared from Parks’ Ward Boulevard home July 31, 2015.
Parks is so hated in Wilson that a judge ruled his first-degree kidnapping and murder trial will have to be held in Greenville. The trial is set for late October.
Chaveli’s car was parked Parks’ driveway. Her DNA was discovered in Parks’ bedroom. Parks is accused of pawning a ring belonging to Chaveli the day after she vanished. He got $25 for it.
Parks has had the gall to write local newspapers claiming his innocence.
His crimes aren’t just ancient history. In 2013 he was convicted of two counts of participating in prostitution with a minor. He was given a 10-year prison sentence, but the conviction was overturned in 2014.

The Palacios family continues to look for Chaveli’s body. She was 5 feet, 2 inches tall with brown hair and eyes. She often carried a black purse with a black bow.
Anyone with information about Chaveli should call Wilson Police at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255. Calls remain anonymous.
